The 7th MENA Conference on Information Systems (MENACIS) is pleased to announce its 7th Annual Conference on Information Systems, and we invite submissions of research papers, case studies, and proposals for panel discussions. This year’s conference will focus on the evolving landscape of information systems and their impact on both local and global scales, with a special emphasis on the MENA region.

Submission Guidelines

We welcome submissions from academia, industry, and government sectors. All submissions will be blind peer-reviewed based on originality, technical quality, and relevance to the conference themes.

Submissions Deadline: October 10th

Conference Themes:

To ensure a rich and diverse exchange of ideas, we encourage submissions that explore innovative topics within the field of information systems, particularly those relevant to the MENA region. We also aim to foster inclusivity by encouraging participation from researchers and practitioners around the world.

The themes for this year’s conference include, but are not limited to:

1. Information Systems in Conflict and Post-Conflict Recovery:

  1. Role of IS in conflict zones: Utilising IS for peace-building and conflict resolution;
  2. Humanitarian IS: Digital solutions for crisis communication, enhanced services and tracking systems and management in conflict zones;
  3. Post-conflict recovery: Rebuilding infrastructure and governance through IS;
  4. Impact of conflict on information system infrastructures and strategies for resilience; 


2. IS Ethics and Data Privacy in Artificial Age:

  1. Fake News and Comments and their effect on society;
  2. Detection and mitigation of deep fake technologies.
  3. Impact of fake media and misinformation in conflict zone;
  4. Ethical and regulatory challenges in managing digital mis/disinformation;
  5. Cybersecurity and Data Privacy in the Digital Age;
  6. Privacy issues and data protection regulations;


3. AGI, and new AI and Business Analytics technologies in Emerging Countries:

  1. Potential of AGI and Analytics in healthcare, education and public services in developing countries; (From traditional healthcare and education systems to AI-Powered-Ones);
  2. AI in driven decision-making processes, manufacturing, and construction;
  3. AGI Governance in Emerging Countries;
  4. Ethical Considerations of AGI and privacy issues;
  5. AI and data analytics for regional development;
  6. Business analytics tools and techniques tailored for the MENA context;

4. Emerging Technologies in Developing Countries:

  1. Blockchain, IoT applications beyond cryptocurrencies, including supply chain and healthcare;
  2. Financial technologies (FinTech) and their impact on regional economies;
  3. Emerging Technology Adoption in Society, Industry, and Regulatory, Challenges and opportunities. 


5. Digital Transformation Strategies in the MENA Region:

  1. Lessons learned from successful digitally transformed cases in government and private sectors;
  2. Role of emerging technologies and culture in accelerating digital transformation.


6. Inclusion and Digital Equity in the MENA Region:

  1. Infrastructures , internet access· and digital divide· in Developing Countries;
  2. Role of information systems in promoting social inclusion· and economic development;
  3. Gender and digital inclusion: Empowering women through technology;

7. Implications of IS in Sustainability in MENA Region:

  1. Smart Cities and Promoting Sustainability;
  2. Urban planning and management· through information systems;
  3. Smart sustainable city· initiatives and case· studies;
  4. Advancements in technologies, platforms and their effectiveness;

Submissions Guidelines

Authors should submit original, unpublished research papers.

Use the conference template for your submission:

  • Full paper (8 pages max, excluding the references)
  • Extended abstract (4 pages max, excluding the references)

Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings in the AIS Library.

Select papers from MENACIS 2024 will be published in a special issue of the “Interdisciplinary Journal of Management Studies (IJMS)”.
